About

PEMBERTON BAG COMPANY

Is a handmade, slow fashion, oilskin bag company made in the small mountain town of Pemberton, BC, on the unceded territory of the Líl̓wat First Nation.

Designed and made by Nina Babiuk, a Zoologist turned Bag Maker.

As an outdoor lover, camping, fishing, boating, what started as a want for a sustainable stylish everyday bag, that could be taken on all these adventures, turned into a slow fashion brand that went back to the roots of waterproof fabric, with traditional made oilskin.

MADE FOR LIFE.

DESIGNED FOR ALL.

MADE WITH LOVE FROM THE FIRST CUT TO THE LAST STICTH.

OILSKIN

Is the original water-resistant fabric, used by Scottish fisherman to keep them dry on the water. My fabric is sourced from Merchant and Mills, an ethical fabric and notions brand.  The cloth is oiled in one of the oldest mills in Scotland, in the same traditional way as 100 years ago.  The choice to use oilskin rather that more commonly known wax canvas was simple, oilskin is made with cloth, which is much lighter, yet still as durable, with its tight weave.

SLOW FASHION

Back to the roots of handmade fashion.  From the first cut to the last stitch, your bag is handcrafted to last many adventures, ageing beautifully with use.
